Breakfast with Magda Szuabnski
Corporate Club Australia took advantage of the first day of spring to kick start its 2015/16 events calendar with the September Networking Breakfast.
There is a serious side to humour
Tuesday, 1 September 2015 - Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney
Corporate Club Australia were delighted to have Magda Szuabnski as guest speaker at our first event for 2015/16. Magda presented one of the most thought provoking speeches we have had the pleasure of listening to.
Magda gave us an insight into the serious side of comedy, explaining how adversity is often the unique ingredient comedians require to establish their own style of humour.
Guests enjoyed a sensational morning of networking and fine food prepared by Fresh Catering at one of Sydney's most impressive venues - the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.

Many of us feel we have come to know Magda Szubanski through the iconic characters she has created for television sketch comedy shows since the mid 80’s.
Those "young” enough to recall The D-Generation on the ABC have great memories of the creative group of Melbourne University students including Rob Sitch, Santo Cilauro, Marg Downey, Tom Gleisner and Magda herself.
Magda ensured the laughs kept coming following the D-Generation with shows such as Fast Forward, Kath & Kim and more recently Open Slather.
From Fast Forward’s Pixie-Anne Wheatley and Chenille, to Kath & Kim’s Sharon Strzelecki we have grown to love and laugh with these exceptional individuals.
Magda’s talents have shone beyond the small screen to feature films including Babe and Happy Feet just to name a few.
Given her impresive background, Magda is well qualified to give us her insights into the Australian sense of humour … and do we indeed have one!
