An incredible evening and fitting finale to Australia Day celebrations in Sydney.
Over 450 distinguished guests arrived in colour and style for the 2019 Australia Day Reception. Host and Chairman of the Australia Day Council of NSW, Angelos Frangopoulos AM, welcomed everyone as we enjoyed canapes, conversation and iconic Sydney Opera House views. Then the Governor of NSW and Patron of the Council, reflected with pride on his Australia Day 2019 experience.
With formalities out of the way, the Southern Foyer, podiums and steps of the Sydney Opera House became a theatre for one of Sydney’s great spectacles as Australia Day Live unfolded in front of our eyes.
The perfect vantage point to experience Australia Day Live
Australia Day Live featured a concert staged on the Forecourt, produced by the NSW Government and Australia Day Council of NSW, with an audience of over 5,000. The concert hosted by John Foreman OAM and Kate Cebrano was broadcast live to the nation on ABC TV. It featured performances by Sydney Symphony Orchestra, rocker Jon Stevens, funk instrumentalist and vocalist Harts, tenor Josh Piterman, a revitalised Yothu Yindi and The Treaty Project, along with hitmakers Ricki-Lee, Anthony Callea, Karise Eden, Conrad Sewell and KARI.
At the same time a musical and fireworks extravaganza was taking place on Circular Quay with harbour parades, jet-ski shows and dazzling pyrotechnic displays to more than 65,000 revelers.
